Our Own "It Girl" - Shala Monroque

If there was one fashionista I could meet in the world today it would be Shala Monroque. Blogger, Art Consultant and Fashion Professional is what many call her. She has been on our radar for a few years but is now infamous around the world. Our own Caribbean beauty from St. Lucia is making strides and a world wide name for herself off the small island. Of course, as a woman of color making a fierce breakthrough, there is always going to be controversy.

In the grand scheme of things, people truly just hate on Ms. Monroque but than there are millions of us that just LOVE her to pieces and appreciate her taking a risk and always being on top of her fashion game. She is ALWAYS on point with her looks. It's also helps being besties with the folks over at Prada and being the girlfriend of famous art dealer Larry Gagosian. These are the kinds of connections that get you on Vanity Fair's best dressed (2011)

Writing this blog, is almost impossible because us fashion bloggers have such a serious crush on Ms. Shala's fashion sense. There are no words to describe her fabulosity. She is a young, motivated and "jill of all trades," as we say in the islands. As a student she was a track star, wrote poetry and was entering beauty contests. She has taken her passion for art and fashion and started a magazine and built relationships and business ventures in her life that allow her to be living in New York for half the year and traveling to Europe and around the world the other half of the year to attend the world's biggest and most stylish fashion events. Really and truly when I grow up, I probably want to be just like Shala.

You can get into her conceptual complex thoughts and find out what she thinks is hot on a regular basis by checking out Shala's Rabbit Hole.
