My favorite season is only 21 days away even though in my city it's already 90 degree's on average. The southeast is steaming up and I'm looking forward to my birthday this month. I've been thinking about all the new ventures that I wanted to do in my life and one of them is marketing my passion for fashion more. With my feminist background, I think I have a unique aspect to bring to the fashion world.

One of my favorite fashion topic's is plus size models. We all were saddened with the death of Mia Amber Davis this month. many of you know her from the infamous Road Trip movie. She was truly a beauty and doing her own thing. She has been on CNN to discuss plus size models in the industry and was editor of Plussizemagzine.com. Mia was an advocate for women over size 6 in particular women over size 14. We would like to honor her here at Sasha Fierce headquarters and hope that FFF week coming up in New York in June will be a true success. Mia was a huge advocate for the Full Figured Fashion Week which is just a few years old.

Mia would be excited to see the new cover of Vogue Italia June 2011 issue that has three full figured models that are on the cover. I have to say Vogue Italia has always gone outside of the box and is on the cutting edge of fashion editorials. Vogue Italia came out with the all black models issues in 2009 and they decided to do it against his year. They also took it a step further and are doing a plus issue. I ventured over to the Vogue Italia site with my Goggle translator and noticed they have a whole section for black women and curvy women. Elle Magazine has also been featuring full figured women on their covers as well and have taken a lot of slack for it. I for one think all the fashion magazine should be doing it more often to represent all women. The irony is that most of the magazines covering full figured women on the cover are French and Italian magazines which probably have some of the smallest women in the world on average is my guess. It would be nice to see more American issues take heed to our European counter parts.

I believe it a sign of the times that all women need to be represented in the fashion world and there is room for everyone. How can it not get morning looking at the same women for years and years with a slight variation. I almost feel as though a fashion civil rights/size movement is happening and I'm happy to be apart of it.

Over hear at Sasha Fierce headquarters we will continue to advocate for all colors and sizes to be seen on the cover of magazine, runways, and commercials. After all women of color and curvy women are buying just as much merchandise as skinny women. We also appreciate a good fabric and design maybe even more.
Have fun to those heading to FFFweek and thank you Mia for leading the way and may you rest in peace.
