Currently, I'm in love with American designers. I never thought this could be possible. As a Canadian native from a family of Jamaican immigrants, I've always seems to be in love with the French, English and Italian designers more than Americans. This spring, I'm excited to say that American designers have been bringing a huge smile to my face. I decided there are so many aspects of these designers to cover that I'm going to do a series of blogs to cover all my thoughts. I'm going to try to keep them all short and sweet and let their work speak for itself.
As my roommate watches an episode of Project Runway feet away from my desk on our DVR I guess it makes perfect sense for me to start with Michael Kors. Now, I must say that Michael Kors to me in high school just reminded me of Nautica or Polo. I just always remember the same blond models with the white khaki shorts and striped blue and white cotton tee with a hint of red somewhere dropped in between. As my sense of style has grown over the last ten years so has my admiration for Michael Kors. I still would not rank him my favorite American designer but is the one I will most likely purchase merchandise from this summer.
There are four key points to why I'm in love with the Kors brand this year.
1. The wonderful perfume. It's a scent that brings a smile to my face once I've put it on it makes my day. It's a sweet smell that last all day.

2. His shoes. We all love those comfortable super high heel stilettos with mesh/stretch materials that make them so elegant but yet so comfortable.

3.

4. Consideration of the thick chick. That's right. Michael Kors has a thick chick line or according to his website "special sizes." I was in shock. I never heard anyone talk about it or would even suspect that Kors would make high end designs for over a size 12 but the reality of the American women is that we are not all size 6. Based on this new discovery today. I will definitely be getting an outfit from this collection for sure. Maybe I'll rock it for 4th of July.
