So it's been a full 24 hours of getting into Mexico. It's been crazy. well not really but it's funny how the small things can make you laugh. Like there is no one here. It's pretty sad how by the American government and news media claiming that Swine flu was so horrible but yet no one in Cancun really got sick. Our driver Javier said that it was his first time working in over two months. He said the news always should people walking around but never really showed sick people if you think about it. I thought this was a great point. Americans are so engulfed in whatever the media says that we dont' even realize that some of it is false. I feel really bad for the Mexican people. There economy is seriously suffering.
It's funny becaue the government probaby wants to punish Mexico for the borders, drugs, and killings and probably made up this propoganda but the people of Mexico really suffer from this hate on brown people. I am glad that I came and knwo that I will probably still have a really good time.
Hightlights of day 1:
1. getting to the airport and having no one there
2. Michelel accidently giving the driver 201 dollars instead of 2 dollars. We then had to call him to get our money back.
3Getting on the bus and driving into town to get phone cards, food, and water.
