Fantasizing with Elie Saab

This was one of the first seasons where I wasn't clued to my computer screen watching live runway shows during my lunch break and every night before I went to bed. I have been completely swapped and over-committed. The few
times I did sneak onto Instagram, Twitter or Style.Com one thing always caught my tired eyes and perked me right up. Elie Saab. The past year must have been a connection for the two of us. Don't get me wrong, we have always been a fan of the Lebanese born designer. But I don't think we have ever connected as much as we have this year.

I'm simply in love with lace this season as you all know but the fantasy he created with the black and white pieces above in a Gone With the Wind theme really had me intrigued. His Couture Line and his Ready to Wear were at the top of my list for favorite fashion shows.  Triangle cuts, sheer pieces, completely covered up pieces and color use was all it took for me to keep wanting to check out more of what Mr. Saab was producing for the upcoming season. I think he is exactly spot on with when to show skin and when not to. He has incorporated all of my favorite things into one line. What struck me most this year was the simplicity of color use with a modern and vintage flair.
What else can we expect from someone who has been designing since he was 9 years old. He traveled to Paris to design but made his way back to Beirut where the neighborhood woman his family and friends has him as their personal dressmaker. He hit the world stage with Halle Berry in at the Oscars in 2000 and now he is all over the runaways and red carpets.

In 2013, we love Elie at Sasha Fierce Headquarters. Congrats to a fellow July 4th Cancer for having a great year.
